6 Days Kilimanjaro Trek – Umbwe Route

After a transfer to Umbwe Gate, complete registration and begin your trek through dense rainforest, with tall trees, vibrant ferns, and the occasional sighting of colobus monkeys. The trail ascends steeply up the ridge, offering your first taste of Kilimanjaro’s rugged terrain and panoramic views of the surrounding valleys. Today, the forest thins into heath and moorland, opening spectacular views of Kilimanjaro’s northern slopes. Trek along steep ridges and volcanic rock formations as the trail climbs toward Barranco Camp, set in a dramatic valley beneath the towering Barranco Wall. Start the day by tackling the Barranco Wall, an exhilarating scramble offering panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and peaks.
