Itinerary
After breakfast, drive from Arusha to Momella Gate in Arusha National Park. Register and begin your ascent accompanied by an armed ranger. Hike through forest trails rich with wildlife, spotting giraffes, buffalo, warthogs, and monkeys. Enjoy a picnic lunch en route before arriving at Miriakamba Hut for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, continue your ascent through beautiful montane forest and heath zones. Stop at Mgongo wa Tembo viewpoint for spectacular views of the crater below. Arrive at Saddle Hut for a hot lunch and rest. In the afternoon, enjoy a short acclimatization hike to Little Meru (3,820 m) for stunning sunset views.
Start your summit attempt around midnight. The trail is steep and rocky, passing Rhino Point (3,800 m) and Cobra Point (4,350 m). Reach Socialist Peak in time for a breathtaking sunrise over Mount Kilimanjaro. After enjoying the views, descend back to Saddle Hut for brunch, then continue down to Miriakamba Hut for overnight rest.
After breakfast, descend through the forest to Momella Gate, where you’ll receive your trekking certificate. Look out for giraffes, buffalo, and monkeys along the way.
