FULL ITINERARY

Day 1

Moshi/Arusha – Rongai Gate (1,950m) – Simba Camp (2,600m)

After a scenic drive from Moshi or Arusha to Rongai Gate, complete registration and begin your trek through farmland and pine forests, greeting local villagers along the way. The trail offers gentle slopes and panoramic views of the northern Kilimanjaro landscapes, gradually introducing you to the mountain’s terrain.

Reach Simba Camp near the First Cave and enjoy a peaceful evening under the stars, preparing for the adventure ahead and taking in your first taste of Africa’s breathtaking wilderness.

Simba Camp (2,600m) – Kikelewa Camp (3,600m)

Today, hike across expansive moorland terrain, with panoramic views of Kilimanjaro’s northern slopes and the surrounding valleys. Along the way, pass the Second Cave and marvel at the unique flora, including towering lobelias and giant groundsels.

Arrive at Kikelewa Camp, a serene campsite perfect for acclimatization, where the sunset paints the moorlands in vibrant colors and gives you a sense of the adventure that lies ahead.

Kikelewa Camp (3,600m) – Mawenzi Tarn Camp (4,330m)

A short but steep climb takes you to Mawenzi Tarn Camp, situated beneath the jagged peaks of Mawenzi. The afternoon is free for rest and acclimatization, allowing you to admire the rugged mountain scenery and enjoy photography opportunities.

This campsite is one of the most scenic on Kilimanjaro, offering dramatic views of the alpine desert, the Mawenzi peaks, and the peaceful expanse of the moorlands below, giving you a real sense of being immersed in Africa’s wild landscapes.

Mawenzi Tarn (4,330m) – Kibo Hut (4,700m)

Today’s trek crosses the lunar-like alpine desert along the “Saddle” between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks, where the stark terrain offers a truly otherworldly experience. Along the way, the vast open plains and distant glaciers create dramatic scenery for photography and reflection.

Arrive at Kibo Hut, the base for your summit attempt, and spend the afternoon resting, hydrating, and mentally preparing for the final ascent to the Roof of Africa.

Day 5

Day 5

Kibo Hut (4,700m) – Uhuru Peak (5,895m) – Horombo Hut (3,720m)

Starting around midnight, begin the final ascent to Gillman’s Point (5,681m) under a starry sky, feeling the thrill and anticipation build with every step. Continue along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak, where you’ll witness an unforgettable sunrise over Africa, a moment that rewards all your effort and determination.

After celebrating your achievement, descend to Kibo Hut for a short rest, then continue down to Horombo Hut, reflecting on the incredible journey and the beauty of Kilimanjaro’s alpine landscapes.

Day 6

Day 6

Horombo Hut (3,720m) – Marangu Gate (1,843m) – Moshi/Arusha

Descend through moorland and rainforest, enjoying the changing landscapes as you make your way to Marangu Gate, where climbers receive a summit certificate commemorating their achievement.

Along the way, enjoy the lush vegetation, scenic valleys, and reflections on the incredible journey you’ve completed. Celebrate your success with your team before returning to Moshi or Arusha, carrying memories of an unforgettable Kilimanjaro adventure.
